BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA and ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Aug 22, 2012) - RouteMatch Software, a leading provider of end-to-end transit technology solutions for passenger and vehicle management, today announced that it is expanding into the Australia market and is also providing technologies to help optimise Brisbane-based TransitCare's operations.
"We are very excited to be working in Australia and with TransitCare to support their ongoing innovation and transportation leadership, and are very much looking forward to building relationships with other Australian transit systems at the ACTA conference," said Tim Quinn, Executive Vice President and Co-founder, RouteMatch Software. "Australia faces many of the same challenges the U.S. does in terms of a rapidly growing aging demographic, limited funding, and the need to fully maximise existing transport infrastructure for cost savings through greater coordination. We've already discovered tremendous synergies through our discussions with TransitCare and other Australian industry leaders, and believe that our technologies and team can provide real value."
RouteMatch Software currently serves more than 500 transit agencies and private providers, helping them lower costs and gain greater visibility into their transit operations and data. Its unique mix of rural, small urban, and urban client base has enabled the company to build upon more than a decade of expertise in complex coordinated transportation across varying geographies, communities and stakeholders. RouteMatch is well-regarded for its highly adaptable, innovative, and flexible transit-specific technologies built using advanced algorithms and implementation expertise. These technologies help transit operators gain key efficiencies data, improved routing, scheduling and dispatching, automated billing and reporting, and automated vehicle location through Tablets.
In early trials, TransitCare has achieved efficiencies of 16% in respect of persons transported per hour.
With 6000 clients, and more than 210,000 "first mile and last mile" or paratransit trips conducted annually, TransitCare operates in Australia's Brisbane and Logan regions and serves as a mobility hub for neighbouring communities within Queensland for medical, social, and disability transportation. TransitCare also schedules trips directly with Yellow Cabs, Co., the largest taxi fleet operator in Queensland, bus companies and private citizens, to supplement its fleet of 42 "Community Flyer" vehicles.
Prior to partnering with RouteMatch, TransitCare used a home-grown data management system. After quadrupling its growth in the past five years, TransitCare outgrew the system. RouteMatch's technology is well-suited to accommodate and generate rapid growth. Notable value-added features that TransitCare has already gained includes using RouteMatch's advanced scheduling engine to adapt to multiple and blended trip allocation parameters and brokerage requirements, as well as robust reporting functionality which facilitates improved coordination for one call center.
For example, RouteMatch Software has been designed to take on board bus schedules so the possibility of "First Mile Last Mile" transport where a point to point booking can be managed from pickup through to the bus station and again from the destination bus station to the drop off point can be managed seamlessly.
RouteMatch enables transit agencies to:
- Easily store detailed information about customers and their service eligibility, drivers, vehicles, and all associated addresses
- Take trip requests and perform on-line scheduling, negotiate, or save for further optimisation
- Optimise trips using sophisticated scheduling software using GIS mapping software
- Monitor the operating environment and make informed dispatching decisions
- Add new service parameters and funding sources without adding new technology
- Automatically calculate receivables using the RouteMatch Billing Engine (RBE)
- Generate manifests, invoices, and service reports with intuitive standard and ad-hoc reporting wizards
"RouteMatch is not only providing us with sophisticated software so we can work smarter and become more cost effective, but also a strong technology backbone for future growth and improving customer care. They are helping us create a center of excellence for transit agencies in Australia and Asia as we roll out our mobility centers nationally and internationally with new services," said Louis De Beer, CEO, TransitCare. "We sought a long-term partner who can contribute to our vision for shared services. We're excited to have RouteMatch on board."
