COLTON, Calif., Aug. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Hodgdon Group, a full-service real estate brokerage, development and construction firm, announced today that it has completed construction on the conversion of the former Wickes Furniture building at Market Place Shopping Center in Oxnard, Calif., for the opening of an Ashley Furniture HomeStore. Hodgdon Group handled all entitlements and served as the design-build contractor and completed the major renovation of the 50,040-square-foot freestanding Ashley Furniture HomeStore. This is the 14th Ashley HomeStore to open, which has been completed by the Hodgdon Group. Ashley Furniture HomeStore is celebrating its grand opening today, Friday, August 24, 2012.
Hodgdon Realty Group negotiated the acquisition of the Wickes Furniture building located at 1721 E. Ventura Boulevard on behalf of Ashley Furniture. Bill Hagelis with Hagelis Group of Ventura represented the seller, Oxnard Redhill Partners.
As the full-service design-build contractor, Hodgdon-Miank Construction was responsible for hiring the architect and engineering firms and working with the City of Oxnard to obtain the necessary entitlements and permits, as well as perform major renovations. "The City of Oxnard was great to work with, especially utilizing their one-day plan check process which is a unique way to help business open faster to generate revenue for all involved," said Aaron Hodgdon, President of Hodgdon Group. "And, despite a few changes including a change in scope, we turned over the project on schedule."
Hodgdon-Miank Construction's Dan Wallner acted as Project Manager and Thom Duncan served as the Senior Superintendent. Greg James of Nadel was the project architect, Safeway Electric provided design-build electric and fire alarm systems; General Underground Fire Protection provided services as well as Christian Bros. Mechanical for HVAC.
Ashley Furniture HomeStore will serve as the anchor for Market Place Shopping Center with Guitar Center and Carpet One. Nearby retailers include Fry's Electronics and Costco.
