Whitney Reynolds Shows Her Love for Food at the Live Taping From Chicago's Food Truck Social

Weekends with Whitney a Featured Media Outlet for 2nd Annual Time Out Chicago Event

CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Whitney Reynolds, star of NBC Nonstop's "Weekends with Whitney" will be the first to admit that she is a foodie. She is putting her claim to the test at this weekends live taping from the 2nd Annual Food Truck Social sponsored by Time Out Chicago, The Empty Bottle, and the West Town Chamber of Commerce.

Fourteen food trucks will be featured each day, plus a pop-up truck featuring rotating local chefs.

Reynolds begins taping at noon Sunday, August 26 on Chicago Ave, between Wood and Wolcott streets in Chicago's food rich Wicker Park neighborhood. The Food Truck Social kicks off at noon on Saturday, August 25th and in addition to some of the top food trucks in the region, the social will also feature live music.

Last month, The Chicago City Council voted 44-1 to approve new legislation that increases the hours food trucks are allowed to operate and the ability to prepare food on-site. Until recently food truck vendors were limited in the way they could both serve and prepare their edible delights. New York City has led the way with elaborate food creations coming fresh off food trucks for years. The nation's third largest metropolis is following suit with an expanded offering coming from many trucks right here in the Windy City.

"I am from the south and food is a tradition. Chicago has so much to offer to Foodies and I couldn't be more excited to taste what's cookin' and experience the culture the trucks bring to our wonderful city," said Reynolds.

Weekends with Whitney will be filming the event as a whole, and will focus on the stories of select trucks. One of the nation's top food blogs, ChicagoFoodies.com, will also join Reynolds to give the inside scoop on the regions mobile delicacies. With over 20,000 people expected to attend, the range of trucks features the likes of Haute Sausage and Beaver's Donuts, all the way to Taquero Fusion, More Cupcakes, and the Kendall College pop-up demo kitchen.

Sunday's live taping of "Weekends with Whitney" comes on the heels of Reynolds' support of the HabitatforHumanity-ChicagoYouthBoard. The organization fights to eliminate poverty and homelessness through affordable housing. Reynolds joins a venerable "who's who" list of Chicago socialites and media personalities for the Youth Board's inaugural "Habitat House Party" on Saturday, August 25th from 7pm-9pm at the South Loop's newest hot spot, Square One Chicago.

"Whitney and the entire W3 team cares about giving back. Anyone can write a check, but I really love when I see someone rolling up their sleeves and getting involved. Whitney Reynolds is one of those people. Yes, she will participate in the social causes - but best believe Whitney would be the first one to pick up a hammer and nails and start building with the Habitat team," commented Chris Foltz, Co-Producer of Weekends with Whitney and founder of give-back minded communication strategy firm Christopher Foltz & Company.
