CHICAGO, Sept. 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Premier Basketball League (PBL) announced the latest expansion into upstate New York with the Buffalo Warriors entering the 2013 season. With New York also playing host to the PBL's winningest team, the Rochester RazorSharks, the new season is gearing up for more action on the heels of 2012's successful regional play model.
The new team has backing and leadership from two Buffalo residents that know both the game of basketball and the business around it. Led by Edward "Eddie B" Bednarz and Terence "T" Dill, the Warriors look to enter 2013 riding the momentum built up during the off-season.
A lifelong Buffalo resident, Eddie Bednarz has vested interests in several business ventures and companies, most of them involved in creative processes. His main company, 21st Century Enterprises, operates credit card facilitation and Clicketix ticket processing for events of all types. He is also the founder of the successful summer festival "Taste of South Buffalo".
"Pounding the pavement to get things done is how you do it in Buffalo," commented Bednarz. "It's a small city with the potential to be a great basketball city once again."
Bednarz's position as co-owner is the operations and day to day functions of the team: administrative, accounting/finance, marketing, publicity, and promotion. His co-owner Terence "T" Dill comes from inside the basketball industry as both a player and leader. Born and raised in Bermuda, Dill came to Buffalo via Texas University. He met his wife, a Buffalo native, while attending Texas University. They married and settled in Buffalo, and recently welcomed their first child, a son, earlier this year.
Dill believes Buffalo could make a major comeback in the sport of basketball, and in the few years he's been here he has witnessed how excited people are to learn of their desire to do just that. "Buffalo is a fantastic city, like a well-kept secret. We want to show the world what we can do," commented Dill
The PBL will be kicking off the 2013 season March 1st, a later date that previous years. "We want to give team owners and front office staff ample time to prepare for the highly anticipated 2013 season. Our regional play model was a success and 2012, and with less competition from the NFL post-season, we are giving our fans and teams a chance at an even larger reach for the upcoming season," commented Tom McGinn, PBL Vice President of Operations.
