LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 1, 2012) - Talon International, Inc. (
"A former employee, advisor and representative of the Company, Herman is one of the leading textile consultants within the industry and the most knowledgeable concerning the technology and advantages of the Tekfit© waistband," noted Lonnie Schnell, Talon's CEO. "We are pleased to have Herman rejoin the Talon team and to help reenergize the enthusiasm and excitement for the Tekfit© technology." The Tekfit© waistband has been heralded by the industry as the most advanced technology in pant designs that provide comfort-fit and stretch-flexibility in standard non-stretchable fabric. Talon has sold the Tekfit© technology under such brands as Polo Ralph Lauren, Roundtree & Yorke, Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones Golf, Eddie Bauer and Levi's Dockers. Previously over 50 million Tekfit© waistbands were used by Levi Strauss in their Dockers pants, and today Tekfit© waistbands are being incorporated into quality sports and casual apparel by major retailers such as Dillard's, HMX and Saks 5th Avenue.
The Company recently announced the end of protracted litigation regarding the use of this patented technology that had left many customers hesitant to incorporate the technology while its ownership was in dispute. "Despite this apprehension, the amazing capabilities of the Tekfit© technology allowed us to continue to build confidence with selected brands," noted Schnell. "Herman initially brought this technology to the Company in 2002 and has worked with us in various capacities toward realizing the various opportunities this exclusive product represents. Now that we no longer have uncertainty about who owns the technology hanging over us, we are confident that with Herman's expertise and guidance we can bring this innovative product to the entire industry."
The Tekfit© waistband uses a patented technology incorporating the use of specialty equipment and manufacturing know-how to transform a non-stretch fabric into a stretchable waistband by compressing the fabric and thus changing the nature of the material's structure. The result of this compression is a comfort-fitting, non-binding stretchable waistband capable of expanding up to two to three sizes with no tell-tale ripple on the surface, then completely recovering to its original size.
