Austin veterinarians Dr. Kellee Campbell and Dr. Susan Waage are working to educate prospective pet owners about the importance of adopting animals in need from the Pflugerville Animal Control and Humane Society.

"We strongly believe that all animals deserve a forever home," said veterinarian Dr. Campbell. "In support of this commitment, our animal hospital is proud to provide treatment and care to animals in need."

Pflugerville Animal Control and Humane Society is a 90% no-kill shelter dedicated to providing a home for animals in need and advocating for their adoption. In support of the shelter's mission, Dessau Veterinary Clinic works with the shelter and local rescue groups to help animals in need find a forever home.

The Austin animal clinic also works with Pflugerville Pfurry Pfriends, a non-profit that helps cover the costs associated with treating heartworm positive dogs. The non-profit also helps to subsidize adoption fees for families adopting through the Pflugerville Animal Control and Humane Society. Additionally, the non-profit covers the cost of a trainer to work with shelter animals to manage behavioral issues.

"Pflugerville Pfurry Pfriends is a remarkable non-profit that has done so much to support pets in need here in our community," said Dr. Waage. "As a veterinarian, I am proud to work closely with this non-profit to help all animals in need receive the wellness care that they deserve."

Dessau Veterinary Clinic is also passionate in educating prospective pet owners about the dangers of puppy mills, and working to end this practice. The Austin animal clinic includes information about puppy mills on its website, as well as links for adopting animals in need.

"Through our work with the Pflugerville shelter, we are proud to help write a happy ending to some otherwise very sad tales," said Dr. Waage. "Animals come to the shelter that have been neglected, abused and otherwise unloved. By providing basic wellness care, we help animals heal from their injuries and support them in finding a forever home."

The veterinary clinic has also welcomed a new vet technician to the practice. Candice will be assisting a veterinarian during appointments and pet grooming.

The Austin animal hospital provides wellness exams, vaccinations, pet grooming, pet boarding and dental care services.
