Keller Rohrback announces its investigation of InfoCision Management Corporation ("InfoCision" or the "Company"), an Ohio-based telemarketing company, regarding allegedly false and misleading charity solicitations. Our investigation focuses on whether InfoCision misled donors about the percentage of donations a charity receives, and whether the telemarketers were "volunteers" of the charity rather than paid telemarketers. A Bloomberg Markets magazine investigation revealed that InfoCision entered into contracts with charities to solicit money on their behalf but retains a major portion of the charitable donations it receives on behalf of the charity. For example, the investigation revealed that of the funds raised on behalf of the Diabetes Association in 2011, InfoCision retained about 78% of the funds it raised on behalf of that charity. Even worse, Bloomberg reports that in 2010, InfoCision retained 100% of the $5.3 million it raised on behalf of the American Cancer Society. The investigation also found that the Company fails to tell donors the truth regarding the amount of money that the represented charity receives, misleading donors to believe that 70 to 75 cents of every dollar went to the charities.
