LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Nov 13, 2012) - According to Dr. Samuel Sohn, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Las Vegas, the Fall and Winter seasons are popular times of year for facial rejuvenation procedures. He has noticed that Hankins & Sohn Plastic Surgery Associates, a practice he shares with Dr. W. Tracy Hankins, experiences an increase in these procedures, especially as the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach.
At their practice, the most popular Fall and Winter procedures patients seek are:
- Facelift
- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
- Non-surgical aesthetic skin treatments
Dr. Sohn also notes some patients are interested in receiving a combination of facial procedures. "There are decided benefits to having facial rejuvenation treatments in the Fall season, as opposed to the Summer," he says. "Sun exposure should be limited after these procedures and the cooler weather paired with a shorter span of daylight lead to less time spent outside. Patients may also have a little extra time off from work to recover in the Fall and Winter seasons due to the holidays. This extra time allows for a more private recovery."
The Las Vegas plastic surgeon says skin and aesthetic treatments in particular benefit from less tanning and sun exposure, which can ultimately make skin treatments such as photofacials and Fraxel -- procedures used to reduce age spots, dyschromia, and diminish sun damage -- more effective.
While sun exposure is not as much of a concern for breast and body procedures, Dr. Sohn says the Fall and Winter are also good times of the year for:
- Breast augmentation
- Liposuction
- Tummy tuck
- Body contouring
In regards to recovery, Dr. Sohn says patients can more easily hide post-operative garments and binders in cooler weather. He also believes patients at his and Dr. Hankins' Las Vegas plastic surgery practice prefer to have surgery in the Fall or Winter seasons to prepare their bodies for Spring and Summer: "Patients want to be fully recovered by the time warmer weather returns."
