Traci Canning's Attainment of Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe Highlights Company's Expertise in Global Privacy Laws

ST. PETERSBURG, FL--(Marketwire - Dec 21, 2012) -  First Advantage, the leading global provider of comprehensive talent acquisition solutions, today announced that Traci Canning, senior vice president and managing director for Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), has earned European privacy certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Canning's attainment of the Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe (CIPP/E) designation reflects First Advantage's thought leadership surrounding global privacy laws and regulations, as well as the company's strong commitment to complying with the most stringent data protection practices. With its unparalleled global footprint, the company strives to remain at the forefront of information security and data privacy.

"In a complex privacy landscape, organizations need to be sure their data is well protected and handled by individuals with strong domain expertise and knowledge of all legal policies involving the transfer of personal data," said Jack Freker, CEO of First Advantage. "Traci's attainment of CIPP/E certification emphasizes the fact that we have the right resources in place to ensure compliance with privacy laws across the U.S. and the European Union."

The Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) program is the first professional credential specific to European data protection professionals that is part of a comprehensive principles-based framework and knowledge base in information privacy. The CIPP/E credential demonstrates a strong foundation in European privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to and from the U.S., the EU and other jurisdictions.

The CIPP/E certification is the third IAPP privacy certification for Canning, who has previously obtained U.S. privacy (CIPP/US) and Information Technology (CIPP/IT) certifications. The U.S. certification was established in 2004 and is recognized as the first certification for data protection professionals. The CIPP/IT credential has the distinction of being the first global privacy certification for IT professionals.
