LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As part of their ongoing commitment to charitable giving, today Insomniac announced that it has donated approximately $300,000 to charitable organizations throughout the nation in 2012.
"During this season of giving I take great pride and pleasure in reflecting on the positive impact that Insomniac and our events have on the local communities that are gracious enough to host our shows and festivals," said Insomniac's CEO, Pasquale Rotella.
Insomniac's Charitable Giving Initiative donates $1 per ticket transaction and $10 per guest list attendee to charitable organizations in the local communities where the festivals are held, as well as nationwide.
"A critical part of Insomniac's mission is to leverage the support of our loyal fans to make contributions to deserving organizations that help provide unique and vital services to communities throughout the U.S.," added Rotella.
The organizations that received contributions from Insomniac in 2012 include:
- The American Red Cross for ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief.
- Rock the Vote in support of the voter registration initiative Spin the Vote, which targeted young EDM fans during the 2012 election and will continue to activate and engage the dance music community to be active participants in the democratic process of voting.
- Second Harvest Food Bank in support of the San Bernardino County Food Bank which services more than 400,000 people monthly and provides over 25 million pounds of food annually.
- A Place Called Home in support of their cultural arts and music programs which provide at-risk youth positive exposure to music, dance and fine arts.
- The Los Angeles Police Department Cadet Program in support of the Cadet Program which provides youth from throughout Los Angeles with leadership and life-skill training.
- Clark County School-Community Partnership Program in support of arts education programs in Clark County public schools.
- University of Nevada Reno (UNR) Foundation's Emergency Medicine Resident Research Fund in support of local physicians that are involved in teaching and training emergency medicine residents for the University of Nevada School of Medicine, including the emergency medical team who staffs Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas.
- Injured Police Officers Fund – Las Vegas to help reduce the financial burden suffered by police officers and their families in the event of a line of duty injury or death.
- The Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Children's Charity in support of identifying the needs of children in local communities and award grants to organizations that address them.
Last year, in 2011, Insomniac donated $75,000 to local and regional organizations following EDC Las Vegas and more than $150,000 to communities nationwide.
