Prophecy Healthcare(R)'s Director of Clinical Education Awarded Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law

As the shift from a volume-based CMS reimbursement model to a value-based system transforms the healthcare industry, Felicia Sadler, MJ BSN RN, CPHQ positioned herself as a key resource for Prophecy's clients looking to maximize their reimbursement in a competitive healthcare environment.

GREENSBORO, N.C., Jan. 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In December 2012, Felicia Sadler, MJ BSN RN CPHQ, Director of Clinical Education for Prophecy Healthcare, received her Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. The Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) is a post-baccalaureate degree that provides professionals with a comprehensive working knowledge of health laws and governmental policy.   Sadler chose this degree based on her passion for patient safety and healthcare delivery.

"Obtaining my MJ became an obvious choice as I sought to better understand the complexities of laws and regulations that govern health care and drive reimbursement.  The healthcare industry is now experiencing a paradigm shift from a volume-based CMS reimbursement model to one that is value-driven with reimbursements directly linked to quality of care and quality patient outcomes," said Sadler of her decision to further her education.  "This level of accountability will require a systematic transformation to structures and processes, in order to be competitive in a value-based system."

An MJ provides graduates with the expertise needed to successfully navigate issues of health care law, regulation, and policy.  Graduates gain technical expertise in resolving legal issues in the health care setting while developing keen problem-solving skills, analytical reasoning, advanced communicative abilities, and an increased capacity for independent thinking.

"We are so proud of Felicia's accomplishments and are thrilled to have her expertise on the Prophecy team.  The MJ is a challenging and difficult degree to obtain, requiring long hours of study time, and research," stated Ron Gonzalez, CEO of Prophecy Healthcare.  "Through her perseverance, strong work ethic, and positive attitude, Felicia expanded her knowledge base undoubtedly enhancing her career and life."

In May of 2012, Felicia also became a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.  A Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality(CPHQ) is an individual who has successfully passed the accredited examination demonstrating competent knowledge, skills and understanding of Management and Leadership, Information Management, Performance/Quality Measurement & Improvement and Patient Safety. This certification encompasses program development and management, quality improvement concepts, coordination of survey processes, communication and education techniques, and departmental management in healthcare.

The CPHQ certification program is fully accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies(NCCA), the accrediting arm of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), Washington, D.C. and administered by the Healthcare Quality Certification Commission(HQCC) of the National Association of Healthcare Quality(NAHQ).  The CPHQ is the mark of distinction in healthcare quality.

Sadler concluded with, "I am looking forward to using this education to assist Prophecy clients toward achieving excellence in their workforce, processes and patient outcomes, in order to thrive under the CMS Value-Based Purchasing Program."
