Over 170 players came out for a great day of golf to raise funds for cancer victims and their families. Contributions raised from the October 19th event totaled $28,538. With PSI's 100% matching donation, a total of $57,076 was collected. Of this amount, $40,906 was donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and $16,170 was donated to Special Love. The checks were presented to the charities by CEO Terry Lin at PSI's Holiday Party on December 15.
"From our first PSI charity golf tournament 16 years ago to today, our mission has been to give back to the community and bring together Government customers, partners and friends to raise money for a very worthy cause," said Mr. Lin. "We greatly appreciate and thank all who participated for helping to make a difference."
Dave Smith, CEO of Special Love, said, "Among the things Special Love is thankful for in the New Year is the fact that we are part of such an outstanding event—and company. The annual PSI golf tournament is a premier event with all the bells and whistles any golfer could hope for – and the best part is that every penny collected from the participants not only goes to the charity beneficiaries, but is matched, thanks to Terry Lin's generous support."
"The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is thankful for the extreme generosity of PSI for their continued support of the society's life-saving mission. The passion and deep commitment of PSI and its employees to improve lives of those less fortunate is a testament to the strong philanthropic values within the organization," said Beth Prensky, Campaign Director.
PSI's 17th Annual Corporate Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2013.
