ATLANTA, Jan. 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- U.S. Security Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that Joseph W. Arwady has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Center for Private Security and Safety at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Mr. Arwady is President of U.S. Security Associates' Northeast Business Unit. As a board member, he joins other security industry leaders in support of John Jay College's efforts to expand its educational mission and expertise to non-matriculating safety and security services professionals in the public and private sectors.
Anthony Gentile, CEO, Center for Private Security and Safety at John Jay College, has assembled an advisory board that includes a diverse range of security and safety experts, with Mr. Arwady representing the private security sector. According to Mr. Gentile, "Joe is a valuable addition to our board, and John Jay is grateful that U.S. Security Associates supports his participation. As an industry veteran and a senior executive with one of the nation's largest security companies, Joe's experience and insights have already made a positive impact on the Center and its objectives. His academic background and industry track record make him a perfect fit for John Jay and our new initiative."
Operating under the auspices of the College's Department of Security, Fire and Emergency Management, the Center is uniquely positioned and oriented to provide education and training across all strata of the industry, from security managers, senior leaders and CSOs to entry-level employees and students. In partnership with public and private safety providers, the Center designs and delivers professional education and training programs, short-term segment training and certificate programs, in both resident and online formats. In addition, the Center will edit and publish a peer-reviewed journal, produce relevant white papers, monitor and advise on changes to particular state industry mandates, and contribute to the development of "best practices" for the private security industry at the local, state, national and international levels.
Mr. Arwady holds a Ph.D. from Ohio State University, with an emphasis on Performance Management, and has been in the contract security services business for nearly 30 years. He accepted the invitation to join the board, in his own words, "to join an elite team of industry professionals and make a contribution to the Center and John Jay College. Clearly, John Jay College of Criminal Justice is an internationally-acclaimed institution with valuable resources for learning, training, and professional development. With Tony Gentile at the helm and the outstanding board he has assembled, we can leverage the resources of John Jay College of Criminal Justice to improve the quality of the learning environment and educational products available for professional development in the security and safety industry."
