RICHMOND, VA--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2013) - Lincoln Military Housing aims to improve the quality of life for its residents through free programs and events designed to strengthen personal connections between neighbors, often partnering with like-minded local organizations to support this goal. Throughout 2012, the LMH Community Services team was able to do just that with the help of dedicated employees, generous volunteers and enthusiastic residents, at all of their neighborhoods across the nation.
Encouraging residents to interact with each other is the first step to creating community so throughout the year Spouses Club events were held to provide a way for military spouses to get to know their neighbors while participating in fun events such as downtown food tours, cake decorating classes and even skiing and snowboarding trips. Couples were also invited to have some kids free fun at theme dinners such as 70s Casino Night where all attendees were required to dress to impress.
Family fun activities ranged from attending professional sporting events to day trips to local theme parks. Throughout the summer the Community Services team put on the annual Kids Crew series with slumber parties at local museums, outdoor movie nights, concerts and resident appreciation parties ranging from ice cream socials to luaus.
Residents were also given the opportunity to participate in the Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP), within their community. This past year they participated in Clean the Bay Day, helping to pick up over 400 pounds of trash. Other opportunities provided by VIP include helping local Habitat for Humanity and Food Bank chapters. VIP gives Lincoln Military Housing residents a chance to give back to their community and build bonds that become especially valuable during deployments.
The events highlighted above are just some of the activities Lincoln Military Housing residents can enjoy and get involved in with their community. For videos of more community events, see the Lincoln Military Housing YouTube channel.
