TXCHPI Hosts Houston Power Lunch

Current Trends in Gas Markets in the US

AUSTIN, Texas, March 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Texas Combined Heat & Power Initiative (TXCHPI) hosts their Houston Power Lunch with Bob Hayes, VP of Natural Gas Trading, Calpine (NYSE:CPN), on March 22, 2013 at Norris Conference Center, Westchase, 9990 Richmond Ave. in Houston. Combined Heat & Power, CHP technology fueled with clean-burning Texas natural gas, is the most economic, efficient technology for generating electricity with fossil fuels. CHP or cogeneration is the path for increasing building efficiency, for corporate sustainability and for a reliable energy resource that improves air quality and dramatically reduces water used for power production.

Speaker:

Bob Hayes has nearly 25 years of experience in the natural gas industry. Hayes oversees physical gas purchasing and balancing for Calpine's fleet of 95 natural gas-fired (28,000 MW) power plants, as well as the real-time power trading and dispatching functions and the power-scheduling group. He will discuss current trends in the gas markets across the country, he'll cover fueling plants in an ever-changing supply environment and he will conclude with his forward views of the gas markets, including Texas.

Policy Update:

TXCHPI has recently released a policy statement and TXCHPI representatives will provide an update on CHP waste heat recovery bills introduced in the Texas Legislature, including one that provides margin tax deductions for CHP projects with or without thermal energy storage. Combined heat & power or cogeneration technologies provide increased efficiency that leads to economic benefits, reduces water usage and helps meet clean air standards.

More information is available on the TXCHPI website where registration is available online. Doors at 11:15 a.m., buffet lunch starts at noon and the presentation begins at 12:30 p.m.
