Long-awaited updates to the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 were released March 8, 2013 by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Included in the update are additional data fields for employers to fill in, expanded instructions, and revised formatting. The new Form I-9, used by employers to verify employee identity and establish work eligibility within the United States, must be used by all employers after May 7, 2013. Employers have the next 60 days to integrate the new form into their hiring procedure or risk non-compliance and possible penalties.

I-9 expert, Fowler is the current chair of the American Payroll Association Government Affairs Task Force Immigration subcommittee and was the founder and former chair of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) Government Identification Verification Systems (GIVS) committee. He also led the Equifax Workforce Solutions team that developed the electronic I-9 Management service. Amy Peck is an elected director of the 12,000 member American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She has won numerous awards for her legal expertise, is a founding member of the Global Migration Action Group, and recently served on the AILA National Verification Committee and AILA Comprehensive Reform Committee.
