"Technology continues to play a pivotal role in transforming how business and society functions. For the past 25 years, the Computerworld Honors Program has had the privilege of celebrating innovative IT achievements," said John Amato, vice president & publisher, Computerworld. "Computerworld is honored to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the 2013 class of Laureates and to share their work. These projects demonstrate how IT can advance organizations' ability to compete, innovate, communicate and prosper."
During the 2013 Gala, Laureates will be recognized publicly with a medallion inscribed with the Program's mission, "A Search for New Heroes" and their case studies will be formally inducted into the program's International Archives.
At the Gala Evening, additional honors are given to 55 Laureates whose case studies are selected as finalists for a 21st Century Achievement Award. The five finalists in each of the eleven categories represent outstanding innovation within the information technology field. The 21st Century Achievement Awards are then given to one Finalist in each category, singled out for special recognition by the Program Judges to be the very best among their peers.
"The evening truly embodies the power information technology has in building businesses and connecting individuals so that society continues to innovate, communicate and thrive now and for future generations," said Amato.
