LAGUNA BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 26, 2013) - Dr. Daniel Mills, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Orange County, recently traveled to Park City, Utah to attend the 2013 American-Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting™. In addition to gathering with his fellow surgeons to learn about the latest procedures and practices the cosmetic surgery field has to offer, Dr. Mills spoke on a conference panel titled "Non-Invasive Facial Rejuvenation."
The American-Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting™ (ABAM) is intended to facilitate the international exchange of technical knowledge and encourage discussions of how socioeconomic conditions affect plastic surgery communities around the world. Dr. Mills' presentation at ABAM was entitled "Malar Augmentation with PMMA Enhanced Fillers" and focused on the non-invasive dermal filler Artefill©.
Artefill was FDA-approved and introduced into the U.S. market in 2006. Since that time, Dr. Mills has been serving as a principal investigator for a clinical study concerning the treatment's safety. According to his presentation, there have been no product recalls, no reported medical device events, and over 25,000 patients have received Artefill treatments in the United States to date.
At the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute, Dr. Mills' private practice, the Orange County plastic surgeon offers Artefill as a dermal filler intended to lessen the appearance of the wrinkles and smile lines in the malar -- or cheek -- region. In addition to fine lines and wrinkles, Dr. Mills noted in his presentation that the dermal filler can also be used to add volume to the cheeks. He went on to say that Artefill differs from other dermal fillers, such as Restylane, because of its ability to provide longer-lasting results.
Dr. Mills highlighted that the results of Artefill can last for five years or more. He also noted that at his practice, his Orange County plastic surgery patients generally require one to two treatments -- depending on the severity of their wrinkles and folds -- in order to achieve their cosmetic goals. Additionally, he reported that there is typically no downtime associated with this procedure and physicians and patients alike report a high level of satisfaction.
In the end, Dr. Mills concluded his presentation by citing that his patients tolerated the Artefill injections extremely well and were likely to recommend the treatment to others. In regard to the meeting itself, he said he values opportunities such as the American-Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting™ in order to share his research and expertise and to learn from his fellow plastic surgeons.
