Tulsa Welding School and Lincoln Electric partner with Merit Badge Midway for Scout Fair

TULSA, Okla., April 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tulsa Welding School, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has joined forces with Lincoln Electric to take part in the Merit Badge Midway for Scout Fair on Saturday, April 13th. The Scout Fair will take place at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas and is said to draw in Scouts from 16 counties. The Midway offers an educational component to Scout Fair, and provides Scouts the opportunity to learn about a variety of industries through hands-on activities. Through these activities Scouts have the ability to earn new merit badges, explore new hobbies, and possibly even future careers. An estimated 22,000 Scouts, leaders, and families are said to attend.

Tulsa Welding School's very own Roger Claxton, who specializes in educating young welders, will attend the event accompanied by the World of Welding (WOW) van. Tulsa Welding School's WOW van travels all over the country educating HS students about Welding and the diverse career opportunities it can bring. The WOW van includes a welding simulator, giving HS students and in the case of the Scout Fair, Scouts, the chance to try their hand at welder training. The simulator creates a life-like welding environment with visual and audio feedback. Scouts will put on a welding mask that creates a 3-D welding environment as they perform the weld. A numeric score and graph are shown upon completion ranking the user in five areas: position, arc length, work angle, travel angle, and travel speed. Scouts will be able to experience real-world welding through this fun and exciting simulation.
