Tokutek Meets Big Data Demand With Open Source TokuDB

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2013) -  Percona Live -- Tokutek, a leader in high-performance and agile database storage engines, today announced that it has made the source code for TokuDB® v7, the latest version of its MySQL storage engine, freely available under the GPL License v2. Open source pioneer Mozilla has been using TokuDB to manage its MySQL-driven Datazilla Data cluster, an open-source system for managing and visualizing performance data.

In the past TokuDB has been free for evaluation; the new TokuDB Community Edition extends free use to deployed environments. Tokutek is also announcing a TokuDB Enterprise Edition, which includes technical support, initial customer onboarding services, and advanced tools for backup and recovery.

Tokutek has a long-standing involvement with the open source community. Tokutek has contributed MySQL and MariaDB bug fixes and feature enhancements, as well as source code for community tools such as iiBench, a benchmark for measuring performance on insertion-heavy workloads. In addition, Bradley Kuszmaul, a co-founder of Tokutek and its chief architect, has been a member of the MySQL council within the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) since it was formed in 2011.
