NEW YORK, April 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Borough of Manhattan Community College of The City University of New York (BMCC/CUNY) will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a spectacular gathering in one of the world's most iconic buildings, that of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
The event's honorees will be Lawrence Leibowitz, Chief Operating Officer of NYSE Euronext, and Antonio Pérez, President of BMCC/CUNY.
"Both BMCC and NYSE have long been synonymous with the economic vitality that is Lower Manhattan," said President Pérez, "but BMCC and NYSE share more than a neighborhood in common. The NYSE is by far the world's biggest trading arena, representing a market capitalization of over $14 trillion—and BMCC is also about investing. Our stock in trade, of course, is human capital, preparing men and women with skills leading to productive, fulfilling jobs in the new economy."
A guest list of Lower Manhattan business elite, BMCC supporters and of course, students who have received the BMCC Foundation Scholarship—which the event's proceeds support in their entirety—will celebrate together on America's most historic trading floor.
For 50 years, BMCC has opened its doors to an ever-changing body of students who now hail from over 150 countries, and all five boroughs of New York City. The diversity has enriched the experience of all who attend BMCC.
