VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 8, 2013) - TSO Logic, a privately held company, and Arc Productions have won a 2013 Green Enterprise IT (GEIT) Award for their deployment of a new kind of non-invasive energy-efficiency software for data centers.
The international GEIT Awards, presented by Uptime Institute, recognize pioneering projects, ideas and innovations that significantly improve energy productivity and resource use in IT.
TSO Logic and Arc Productions took the award in the IT Product Deployment category for their implementation of TSO Logic's product suite.
The software identified over 50 percent potential energy savings at Arc's in-house data center, which the digital media studio relies on when producing animation and visual effects for projects like 9, Gnomeo & Juliet, and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
As part of this year's eight annual Uptime Institute Symposium in Santa Clara, California, both companies will be presenting a case study on May 14. Globally, the symposium is one of the most influential events in the data center and data infrastructure sectors.
"For us, the most surprising thing about the whole experience was finding out just how much opportunity there is to lower costs in a standard data center setup," says Terry Dale, VP of Infrastructure at Arc. "We're getting insights and savings that we've never had before, and we didn't have to make any disruptive changes to our infrastructure or day-to-day operations."
"Of course, it's fantastic just to be recognized by a respected organization like Uptime Institute," said Aaron Rallo, founder and CEO of TSO Logic. "For us, this award is also confirmation that our application-aware approach to power management is a game-changing solution to the problem of energy waste at data centers."
TSO Logic joins this year's other GEIT Award winners including Cisco Systems, 3M Company, TD Bank Group, TeraCool LLC, National Center for Atmospheric Research.
This award for IT Product Deployment is a joint honor for both the data center owner and the product vendor. Runners-up in this category were Intel Corporation and NTT Data.
The awards are open to applicants in all countries and are judged by a committee of independent experts in a double-blind review process.
Past winners and finalists have included AT&T, Bell Canada, BMO, Dell, eBay, Facebook, Microsoft, Telx, UPS, Yahoo, and XtremIO.
