Seeking Unconstrained Investing With Alternative Mutual Funds

National Investment Forum Helps Advisors Examine Risk and Reward in Global Investing

San Francisco, May 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Focused on protecting portfolios against excessive market volatility while looking to enhance investment returns in a historically-low yield environment, investment advisors continue to seek alternative, liquid strategies in mutual funds. This heightened interest in alternative mutual fund investing means advisors need help understanding the diverse choices within the alternative fund universe and tools to assess their ability to balance risk and reward in globally positioned portfolios.

Responding to the need for greater understanding of alternatives among financial advisors, a consortium of three, top mutual fund firms with expertise in alternative strategies are launching a nationwide educational road show on May 21, which builds on similar, highly successful multi-city events in 2011 and 2012.

The lead sponsors for the 2013 events are Eaton Vance, Forward and J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

The 2011 road shows served to introduce alternatives to financial advisors, while the 2012 events addressed the growing use of alternatives.  This year's road shows will focus on current methodologies and real world applications for incorporating alternatives in portfolios, as well as how advisors can best evaluate these strategies.

The events, which kick off May 21 in San Francisco, will feature educational sessions covering a number of alternative strategies, including multi-strategy approaches, absolute return investing, inflation hedging and global macro strategies.  Attendees will have access to top investment managers and research analysts who will explore the applications of alternatives.  The agenda also includes question and answer sessions with fund managers and other investment experts.

The 2013 itinerary includes, in addition to San Francisco (May 21), Atlanta (May 29), New York (June 4), and Chicago (June 6). Schwab and Wilshire will also participate in these events, and Driehaus will join as a sponsor in New York and Chicago.
