Flower Mound Chiropractor Announces Successful Treatment for Spring and Summer Sports Injuries

FLOWER MOUND, Texas, May 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Flower Mound chiropractor Dr. Randy Butler announced that his practice, Butler Chiropractic Clinic, has had substantial success treating patients for sports injuries. Dr. Butler uses a combination of chiropractic care, physiotherapy and electroacupuncture in order to relieve sports injury pain, prevent or reduce the formation of scar tissue, promote internal healing, and help patients recover as quickly and safely as possible. Dr. Butler says that many common spring sports, including softball, tennis and golf, can lead to repetitive motion injuries that require rehabilitative care in order to properly heal.

With spring sports season well under way, Flower Mound chiropractor Dr. Randy Butler is reaching out to local athletes about the importance of rehabilitative care following sports injuries.

"You do not have to be a professional athlete to sustain a sports injury," said Dr. Butler. "Whether you're playing a company softball game or just going for a run outside, sports injuries can happen to anyone at any time."

Dr. Butler stressed that following a sports injury, prompt treatment is essential to preventing the formation of scar tissue. The chiropractor says that many individuals delay treatment because they do not realize just how serious their sports injury may be.

"Unfortunately, many individuals do not take their sports injuries seriously," said Dr. Butler. "Rest, ice and compression may not always be sufficient treatment. Twisting and overextension of the joints can cause serious sprains and strains that will not simply 'heal' on their own."

According to Dr. Butler, back pain, sprains and strains are one of the most common injuries associated with spring sports. Tears to one or more ligaments can occur while playing baseball, softball, tennis and golf. Repetitive motion injuries are also common for golf and tennis players.

"Repetitive motion injuries can lead to tendinitis," said Dr. Butler. "For example, an improper tennis racket swing or an incorrect golf club swing can trigger painful tendinitis in the elbow, known as 'tennis elbow' or 'golf elbow.' This injury requires rehabilitative care in order to fully heal."

Dr. Butler creates custom treatment programs combining chiropractic care with electroacupuncture and physiotherapy. These treatments are designed to provide immediate pain relief by reducing internal inflammation and correcting underlying triggers for pain.

For example, Dr. Butler says that a spinal misalignment may affect an individuals' golf or tennis swing, which in turn triggers tendinitis. Chiropractic care helps to correct this spinal misalignment and relieve back pain. At the same time, Dr. Butler says that physiotherapy treatments will help to reduce inflammation and minimize pain.

Following a sports injury, Dr. Butler may also recommend corrective exercises.

"Corrective exercises help to safely restore movement to the body without aggravating injury or risking further damage," said Dr. Butler.

In addition to treating sports injuries, Butler Chiropractic Clinic provides natural neck and back pain management.
