CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - May 22, 2013) - Coyne College, a leader in education and training for HVAC & Refrigeration, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Assisting and Medical Billing/Coding, announced today that Fathers for the Future, a Chicago-based non-profit organization, is offering a $10,000 scholarship to one underprivileged father enrolled in Coyne College's HVAC or electrical program. Fathers for the Future said it selected Coyne College because of its 100-year history and impressive post-graduate placement rate. Scholarship applications will become available June 1 at www.fathersforthefuture.org.
"Coyne College ranked highest among the schools we researched in terms of legacy and the ability to place students into jobs after graduation," said J. Michael Carr, founder and president of Fathers for the Future. "We believe education is essential to helping a young man find employment in the skilled labor field, but we also realize that extra help is needed in finding that first job. Coyne College has a proven record in both areas."
"We are pleased that Fathers for the Future recognizes Coyne College's strengths and has chosen us for its new scholarship," said Russell Freeman, president of Coyne College. "Our faculty and administrators work regularly with industry professionals, practitioners and affiliated partners to chart improvements in the college's training programs. Our career center is top-notch, assisting both recent graduates and alumni who are between jobs."
Applicants for the Fathers for the Future Foundation scholarship must be enrolled into Coyne College's HVAC-R or Electrical Construction and Maintenance diploma programs. Applicants also must be men between 18 and 30 years old who meet low-income thresholds and are either a custodial or non-custodial father. The scholarship is being made available through the support of Goodcity, a faith-based organization in Chicago that identifies and supports neighborhood programs promoting self-sufficiency, hope and a sense of purpose in under-resourced communities.
Fathers for the Future is a tax-exempt, nonprofit charity established in 2005. Its mission is to build resources through partnerships that support underprivileged fathers between the ages of 18 and 30, and advocate improving the economic condition of their families.
