Enterprise Holdings' Hiring of Veterans and Reservists Expected to Exceed 2012 Levels

This Memorial Day, Enterprise Holdings Recognizes Outstanding Service and Sacrifice of Military Veterans

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwired - May 24, 2013) - This year, more than 600 military veterans and reservists already have enlisted in new careers with Enterprise Holdings -- which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands -- and the company doesn't expect that pace to slow any time soon.

"As the world's largest car rental company, we are well aware that Memorial Day weekend is a busy travel holiday, but we can never forget the larger significance of this national holiday and the importance of honoring and thanking our veterans," said Andrew C. Taylor, chairman and CEO of family-owned Enterprise Holdings. "What better way to show our gratitude than to give them a new opportunity to lead and serve. Enterprise is actively recruiting these proven leaders, and we're humbled by the amazing ways these men and women who have served our country are now helping us better serve our customers."

As a committed member of the national 100,000 Jobs Mission and Joining Forces Travel Industry Coalition, Enterprise Holdings ramped up its efforts to recruit and retain employees with military experience in 2011 and 2012, hiring more than 1,500 veterans and reservists each year. Based on current hiring patterns, Enterprise expects to add 2,000 military employees in 2013.

Enterprise is named after the USS Enterprise, the aircraft carrier on which company founder Jack Taylor served as a Navy pilot, earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses. The seventh of eight U.S. Navy ships named Enterprise, the World War II carrier is widely recognized as the most decorated warship in U.S. military history.

"Beyond just supporting our company's military heritage, we recognize the unique value that employees with a military training background bring to our business," said Taylor, the founder's son. "In fact, veterans and reservists comprise nearly 10 percent of our U.S. workforce."

More than 6,000 of the approximately 63,000 U.S.-based Enterprise Holdings employees are military veterans or reservists. Enterprise's support for its military employees includes paying the salary differential for employees on active duty, so they continue to receive full pay throughout the duration of their service. For the remainder of 2013, Enterprise will maintain an active presence at military hiring fairs throughout the country, including upcoming events in Philadelphia, Orlando, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Boston.

Supporting Military Families
In April, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden jointly announced that the Joining Forces campaign had exceeded its goal of hiring or training more than 250,000 veterans or military spouses by the end of 2014. Collectively, hiring commitments from companies like Enterprise are expected to provide jobs or training for more than 700,000 veterans or military spouses by 2018.

Enterprise, which serves more than 50 U.S. military bases, has been widely recognized for its ongoing support for veterans. The company is a recipient of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest honor given by the U.S. government for support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. Most recently, the company was designated a 2013 Military Friendly Employer® by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.

In 2012, Enterprise was honored for the second time as a Freedom Award Nominee by the ESGR, and was one of only two Missouri companies to receive the first Extraordinary Employer Support Award from the ESGR for sustained support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. Enterprise was also recognized in 2012 by the Vice Admiral, Chief of Naval Reserve, for the company's support of Sailors in the Naval Reserve.
