BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 4, 2013) - Longfellow Benefits, a Boston firm that provides consulting services for employee and executive benefits, has hired Lynn Gillis as vice president, client services, and Ryan P. McDermott, as vice president, business development.
Gillis works with clients on setting and reaching goals and objectives and resolving issues in employee benefits. With a strong health insurance underwriting background, she specializes in complex financial analysis such as stop-loss and alternative healthcare plans. She's also an expert in COBRA and FSA issues.
Gillis was a lead consultant with Strategic Benefit Advisors, a senior underwriter with HealthNet Northeast and a group underwriter, major accounts, with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. She holds BA in economics and a BS in finance from Rhode Island College and lives in Hopedale, Mass.
McDermott is responsible for creating new-business opportunities, meeting with entrepreneurs, financial executives, and HR professionals. Most recently he was a managing director and sales representative with consultancy McDermott & Thomas Associates working with group health plans. Prior to that, he was an investment advisor representative at Boston Partners Financial, a general agency of John Hancock.
He is a graduate of The Catholic University of America and lives in Dedham, Mass. McDermott was named to the 2012 40 Under 40 list by The Irish Echo, America's largest Irish-American newspaper.
