OMAHA, Neb., June 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ReferenceUSA, an online reference and research database from Infogroup, announced today that it will exhibit at the American Library Association's Annual Conference (ALA), held in Chicago, Illinois from June 27th to July 2nd. This will be the 17th year ReferenceUSA will exhibit at the show, which is expected to have 15,000 attendees and over 5,000 exhibitors.
Founded in 1876, the American Library Association's mission is to provide leadership for the promotion, improvement and development of information, library services and the profession of librarianship. It provides a number of services to members, librarians and library users including: advocacy resources, news and events. This year's conference, entitled: "Transforming Our Libraries, Ourselves," will include a number of exhibitions and speakers including: Oliver Stone, Temple Grandin, Alice Walker and Octavia Spencer.
ReferenceUSA's exhibit comes a few weeks after a positive review in the May edition of the Library Journal. In it, Cheryl LaGuardia, research librarian at Harvard University, evaluated the tool after using it on a trial basis. She stated: "ReferenceUSA's incredibly easy, yet extremely sophisticated search capabilities are stunning. And the quality of the data is every bit as good as they describe at their data quality page (www.referenceusa.com/Static/DataQuality). Heartily recommended for public, special, and academic libraries."
The product team will showcase ReferenceUSA's newest database innovations including: data visualization, mapping and job searching modules. The tool currently has information on over 24 million businesses and 235 million consumers. Library patrons can use the database to research companies, create business plans, write research papers and find customers for new businesses. Attendees at the ReferenceUSA exhibition, booth 519, will also be able to vote for the next ReferenceUSA data enhancement.
In addition to exhibiting, ReferenceUSA sponsors a few key events at the conference: The "Gala Author Tea" and the "Movers and Shakers" reception. The highly anticipated "Gala Author Tea," brings together bestselling authors to discuss their writing life and forthcoming books. Tickets to the event can be purchased during the conference. The "Movers and Shakers Reception," is an annual event that recognizes leaders in the library community.
"We are proud to support the American Library Association," said Steve Laird, president, ReferenceUSA. "As a member of the United for Libraries board, I know first-hand how important Libraries are to learning, research and history as a whole. ReferenceUSA is committed to working with libraries in their efforts to drive innovation, learning, literacy and community engagement through our industry leading data and solutions."
