LONDON--(Marketwired - Jun 28, 2013) - Huddle has received the award for 'Supplier of the Year' at Computer Weekly's European User Awards for Enterprise Software. The awards ceremony took place at the 5th annual Cloud World Forum on 26 June after judges Bob Brown from Quocirca, George Lawrie of Forrester Research and Spencer Izard from IDC Research pitted the entries against the tough award criteria. Huddle fought off fierce competition to be crowned the winner.
Since it was founded in 2006, Huddle has grown to around 200 people, with offices in London, San Francisco and New York. It was co-founded by Alastair Mitchell and Andy McLoughlin when they became frustrated with the existing enterprise technology's inability to help people work together. Through their leadership, Huddle has raised in excess of $40 million in funding and is now used by more than 100,000 businesses worldwide. A firm favourite with government organisations, Huddle works with 80% of central UK government departments, including the Cabinet Office and Crown Prosecution Service. Globally recognized brands such as SEGA, P&G, Kia Motors and Unilever also use Huddle to share and work on content with teams inside and outside of their organisations.
Huddle's next generational content collaboration platform was developed to tackle key problems in the enterprise: security being compromised, content overwhelming enterprise, legacy software failing to cope, leading to failed deployments and making it difficult to work together.
Huddle brings together content management, task management, social discussions and activity streams together in one place. Being cloud-based, it works across the firewall and cross-platform. Huddle gives organisations the ability to work from anywhere on any device, with peace of mind that their data is secure. Huddle is a core component in the workplace of the future.
Built as a product for enterprise and government organisations, security is core to Huddle's offering. In 2012, the company announced its strategic partnership and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel, the non-profit, strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. As a result, Huddle is developing a FISMA-certified instance of its platform for IQT customer agencies, the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
"Collaboration across the enterprise has long been a nice objective. Huddle's cloud-based technology, built with the enterprise in mind, seems to have met with success," said Brian McKenna, business applications editor, Computer Weekly.
"Our vision is to transform the way people work," said Alastair Mitchell, CEO and Co-founder of Huddle. "90 percent of collaboration in the work place is done across departments, teams and organisations, rather than within them. So it's essential that enterprises can easily access, work and collaborate on documents and ideas to get the most out of their time. A lot of work has been put into making Huddle the best possible product for collaboration in the enterprise, so it's fantastic news for us that this has been recognised in the Compute Weekly Awards."
