ARCADIS CO2 efficiency project wins Green Good Design award 2013

ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the leading pure play global engineering and consultancy firm, today announced that it has won the Green GOOD DESIGN Award 2013 for an architectural project it has completed in Houten, the Netherlands.

The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies present the awards on annual basis to innovative manufacturing and design firms that incorporate sustainable designs in projects that ultimately benefit the environment.

The winning project, a second hand store in Houten, The Netherlands is both CO2-friendly and energy efficient and features: state-of-the-art insulation, a ground heat exchanger that helps maintain ambient year-round temperature as well as solar tubes to project natural daylight into the building thus reducing the number of windows needed. Constructed almost entirely from recycled materials, this award-winning design is the work of ARCADIS architect, Jeroen Eulderink.

"ARCADIS is proud to be recognized for its sustainable architectural design for this project and to be awarded such a prestigious prize in the process" said  Marjolijn Versteegden, commercial manager at ARCADIS. She continued, ".by bringing together our multi-faceted design skills and fresh approach to sustainable design, we have created something which is not only beautiful but complimentary to the natural environment as well."
