ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 23, 2013) - Located at the heart of the Thousand Island region in the popular resort area of Alexandria Bay, N.Y., the Pine Tree Point Resort will be sold at auction on August 6 by J. P. King Auction Company. The resort, which has served as a landmark in the region, is a 13-acre property with water frontage on both the St. Lawrence River and Carnegie Bay. Three adjacent waterfront lots will also be offered at the same auction event.
"It's the last golden waterfront piece of land on the bay that's undeveloped," said Rick Thomson, who has owned the property with his wife, Melissa, since 1996. The land has been in Mr. Thomson's family since the early 1900s, when his grandfather purchased it.
"While its present use, no doubt, could be a great opportunity in itself as a renovation or redevelopment, someone could also purchase it and develop it as a condominium or waterfront community," Mr. Thomson said. "Hands down, its best asset is its location. No matter what a buyer uses it for, this gives it the location and the foundation to be successful."
Currently, the property features chateaus and cottages along the water overlooking Boldt Castle, and the Thousand Island community is renowned in the area for its water sports and tourism from both the US and Canada.
