SAN BRUNO, Calif., July 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MSC Embedded Inc., manufacturer of highly integrated standard board level products and customer-specific boards and systems, introduced its powerful MSC C6B-8S COM Express™ Type 6 module family with highest computing and graphics performance. The modules integrate a fourth generation Intel® Core™ processor (code name "Haswell") and will be offered in different performance and pricing classes.
The first available MSC C6B-8S module is based on the Intel® 8-Series platform controller hub (PCH) QM87 and the Intel® Core™ i7-4700EQ quad-core processor with 6MB L3 cache. The processor is clocked with 2.4GHz or 3.4GHz in the turbo boost mode. The thermal design power (TDP) is 47W or 37W. The processor supports the Intel® AMT 9.0 Technology, Intel® 64, the Intel® Virtualization Technology, VT-d Virtualized I/O and Intel's Trusted Execution Technology. The Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) 2.0 Technology allows for high-end imaging applications.
The powerful 4600 (GT2) Intel® HD graphics integrated into the processor supports DirectX 11.1, OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL 1.2 and offers accelerated coding and decoding functions for high resolution videos.
The MSC C6B-8S module has a comprehensive display support offering three DisplayPort 1.2 with daisy-chaining or HDMI digital display interfaces with a resolutions of up to 3800 x 2400 pixels. The connection of three independent displays is possible. Furthermore the module has two embedded DisplayPort interfaces, along with a LVDS and CRT interface.
With COM Express™ Type 6 pinouts, the MSC C6B-8S module family feature four fast USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports. The board offers seven PCI Express™ x 1 channels, a PCI Express™ graphics (PEG) x 16 interface for powerful external graphics cards and an LPC bus for legacy I/O interfaces. In addition, Gbit Ethernet, HD audio and four SATA interfaces at up to 6 Gb/s are available.
In addition to the embedded modules, MSC offers corresponding cooling solutions like a passive and an active heatsink. Starter kits and carrier boards ensure a quick evaluation of the COM Express™ modules. The MSC C6B-8Shigh-performance platform runs under the Microsoft Windows® 7, Windows® 8 and Linux operating systems. The UEFI firmware Aptio® from AMI is used as BIOS.
