Orinda Classic Car Show to Delight Car Fans with September Weekend Events

ORINDA, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 26, 2013) - Starting Friday, September 20^th, area car buffs will have three great events to attend in Orinda, CA. The weekend kicks off with a pre-show party on Friday at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 21^st from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., it's the free 9^th Annual Orinda Classic Car Show presented by Orinda Motors. On Sunday, September 22^nd it's 'Speed on the Screen' special-feature movie night at the classic art deco Orinda Theatre with two showings of Gone in 60 Seconds at 5:30 and 7:45 p.m.

The events almost solely fund the "Seniors Around Town" transportation service, an Orinda Association program, in addition to other charities, raising more than $200,000 since its start in 2005. Last year's event featured 209 cars and raised $57,000 for local charities. Kate Wiley, Program Director for Seniors Around Town explains, "We depend almost solely on this fine car show for funding and cherish seniors' comments like, 'I greatly appreciate all the help from SAT drivers. I wouldn't be able to manage without them.'" Each year the car show has grown in size and increased its charitable contributions.

More than 200 American & European cars ranging from the 1920's, to the classics of the 50's and 60's, as well as modern exotics will be shown in Saturday's free show. "We will again display classics 'on the green' thanks to the Orinda Country Club opening its beautiful 16^th golf fairway for a 'Pebble Beach' flavor," says event founder, Chip Herman. "This year's event will also have shaded seating for guests to enjoy great Orinda Country Club lunch and beverage offerings served on the edge of the fairway at our BBQ booth with classic cars around. There will be something for everybody!"

The three car show events are part of the Orinda Chamber of Commerce "Celebrate September in Orinda" event series including The Orinda Restaurant Tour on Tuesday, September 24^th.
