SEATTLE, July 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- If you're a runner or a fitness enthusiast, you will want to be one of the first to get your hands on them and your feet in them. A simple, necessary textile meets avant-garde technology with the new Sensoria Fitness Smart Socks. Invented by Seattle-based company Heapsylon, Sensoria Fitness Smart Socks feature an electronic magnetic anklet that tracks activity and communicates data to external devices like a smart phone. The app acts as a virtual coach, the activity tracker analyzes where runners land on their feet, how they stride, and can help them reach their goals while lessening injuries. The makers of these innovative socks are currently seeking crowd-funding support and people have ordered over five hundred pairs in the first few weeks of the campaign on IndieGoGo.
"There is no other device that tracks GAIT in real-time: the live map of how your foot lands on the ground. Most activity tracking devices can tell how far, how fast and how many calories you have burned. The Sensoria Fitness Smart Socks show you how far, how fast, how many calories and more importantly how well you are running," says Davide Vigano, Heapsylon cofounder and CEO.
Heapsylon is hoping pledges from the IndieGoGo campaign will solidify their goal of bringing the product to market in the first quarter of 2014. The public can pre-order the product and contribute to the campaign at www.sensoriafitness.com. Part of their proceeds will go to the Ironheart Foundation, which supports cardiac patients and families worldwide by promoting healthy heart living and providing resources for patients, communities and organizations.
How do these innovative socks work?
Sensoria socks are steps ahead of the competition! The socks are powered by proprietary textile sensors that detect activity type and level and impact forces. The sock connects to a cool, colorful and minimalistic Bluetooth detachable anklet which contains an accelerometer, altimeter and storage in order to gather data even if not connected to a smartphone. The data is presented and analyzed in an easy-to-use mobile dashboard with a modern, clean look. As a runner you can improve your cadence, posture, foot striking, minimize load and impact forces while learning more about your body and how to achieve your goals.
Not just for runners, Sensoria Fitness Smart Socks are great for maintaining regular daily activity as well. As an example Sensoria will let you know when you sit down at your desk for too long and when it's time to stand up and move. If you are by yourself and fall, Sensoria will even be able to alert your loved ones. Thanks to the Sensoria Fitness SDK (Software Development Kit) Software Developers will also be able to develop new apps for health, sports and fitness scenarios for Sensoria Fitness.
