Director of National Energy Technology Laboratory, Anthony Cugini, to Give Keynote Address at Upcoming Air Quality Conference

GRAND FORKS, N.D., Aug. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has announced the release of the preliminary program for its upcoming Air Quality IX Conference, October 21–23, 2013, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Air Quality IX is the nation's premier international conference on environmental topics associated with energy production.

The preliminary program includes an esteemed group of keynote presenters, including Anthony Cugini, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Cugini manages laboratory functions across five locations, including more than 1600 activities in 40 countries, with a total award value of more than $30 billion and private cost-sharing of over $13 billion.

"NETL is focused on developing advanced technologies and accelerating their commercial deployment to produce clean, reliable, and affordable energy from traditional fuel sources, all of which complement the Air Quality Conference perfectly," said Gerald Groenewold, Director of the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), who will also be providing comments during the conference. "NETL has been a long-time partner of the EERC, and we are pleased to have Dr. Cugini's perspective as part of this event," he said.

The technical program includes approximately 130 presenters from 29 states and 14 countries. The program includes two streams of concurrent technical sessions, featuring topics such as, but not limited to, mercury control; policy, regulations, and health issues; carbon capture, utilization, and storage; gasification, natural gas, industrial systems, and unconventional emissions and control; measurement of hazardous air pollutants; as well as multipollutant emission control and nonmercury metals.

Air Quality IX is sponsored by the EERC, DOE NETL, and the Electric Power Research Institute, along with Collaborating Sponsor Calgon Carbon and Partnering Sponsors, FMC, Great Lakes Solutions (a Chemtura business), and ADA-Carbon Solutions.

Early-bird registration is available online. To receive the best rate on a full-access conference pass, register before August 15, 2013. Exhibit space for the trade show is also still available.
