Nutrition Experts Bring International Health & Wellness Conference to Atlanta

Holistic Therapies for Chronic Disease to be Explored

Atlanta, GA, Aug. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nutrition and health experts from around the world will converge in Atlanta this November for the 14th annual Wise Traditions conference, a four-day event that examines the benefits of nutrient-dense foods and holistic therapies. The conference is open to the public and is widely attended by health-conscious consumers as well as physicians, nutritionists, nurses, chefs, farmers, homesteaders and journalists.

This popular annual event is sponsored by the Weston A. Price Foundation, an educational non-profit focused on promoting traditional foods rich in essential nutrients, including meat and organ meats from pastured animals, wild seafood, eggs, butter and full-fat dairy products. It will take place on November 8-11, 2013 at the Sheraton Downtown Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

The theme of this year's conference is "Holistic Therapies for Chronic Disease." Over forty speakers will examine nontoxic treatments for cancer, digestive disorders, autism, thyroid disorders and more.

Seminars include Nourishing Traditional Diets by Sally Fallon Morell, author of the best-selling Nourishing Traditions; the Role of Sulfur in Chronic Disease by Stephanie Seneff, PhD, and Radical Medicine by Louisa Williams, MS, DC, ND. The conference also features tracks on farming, food preparation, and practical aspects of instituting a nutrient-dense diet.

Speakers on cancer include New York physician Nicholas Gonzales, Dr. Tom Cowan, M.D., author of the Fourfold Path to Healing, David Brownstein, M.D., author of numerous books on thyroid disease, Deborah Gordon, M.D. on preventing breast cancer, and Andi Locke Mears on German New Medicine.

Other speakers will explore the role of fat-soluble vitamins A, D and K, and nourishing traditional bone broths for the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. Konstantin Monastrysky, author of Fiber Menace, will address the role of fiber in chronic disease. Throughout the conference, movement specialist Kim Thompson will offer gentle yoga and stretching exercise classes.

On Monday, November 11, an all day tour of farms near the Atlanta metro area will be offered. A Traditional Foods Cooking demonstration and class, Posture and High Interval Training Exercise classes, Homeopathy and Raw Dairy lectures are also scheduled for the final day.

Full and daily registrations are available; the registration fee includes admission to the lectures and exhibit hall and includes some meals. In addition, attendees can purchase tickets to several fundraisers for the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit organization committed to protecting family farms and artisan food producers from unlawful government interference in the sale of processed and unprocessed farm foods. There will be a fundraising dinner on the evening of November 7, and fundraising breakfasts on the mornings of November 8, 9 and 10.

Optional pre-conference events on November 7, include a day-long seminar by farming innovator, Joel Salatin called Polyface You. That evening, a debate between Salatin and Dr. Joseph Mercola on GMO labeling will take place during the FundRAISER for the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund.
