HRAA Provides ICD-10 Curriculum and Internship to Latter-day Saints Business College's Medical Coding Certificate Program

Partnership Showcases HRAA's Commitment to Creating Jobs in Medical Coding to Fulfill the Expected Shortage in 2014

Plantation, FL, Aug. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Health Revenue Assurance Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: HRAA), announced that Latter-day Saints (LDS) Business College has selected the company to provide ICD-10 curricula for its medical coding program.  HRAA and LDS Business College will jointly run an unprecedented internship program, providing students with 300 hours of real-world coding experience to ensure employment upon completion.

This is the first partnership where HRAA will provide relevant training to meet the projected shortage of medical coders expected on October 1, 2014, when the medical billing system will switch from using the ICD-9 medical coding system to ICD-10. The LDS Business College partnership furthers HRAA's mission to train and supply a high tech workforce in medical coding.

Students enrolled in LDS Business College will benefit from a program designed under Andrea Clark, chairman and chief executive officer of HRAA, preeminent thought leader in medical coding and ICD-10 transition and HRAA's Subject Matter Experts - AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainers. HRAA's uniquely designed practicum allows for exhaustive preparation utilizing the extremely robust ICD-10 CM and PCS coding systems that will better reflect 21st century medical terminology.

HRAA's Director of Education and Curriculum, Joanne Schade-Boyce, worked closely with the staff at LDSBC during the curriculum development phase.  "I particularly enjoyed LDSBC's enthusiasm as we jointly molded and crafted a coding program model that not only meets the mission of the College, but also the requirements for employment associated with the upcoming demand for AHIMA (American Health Information and Management Association) credentialed Certified Coding Associates (CCA);," said Ms. Schade-Boyce.

The internship program that accompanies the curriculum will ensure that student coders have the experience necessary to secure a job the day they graduate, as they will be measured on their productivity and accuracy expected by HRAA.

"In one year, the health sector faces two significant obstacles: a complete shift in the way medical billing and coding has previously been done; as well as a shortage of coding personnel to actually implement the billing," said Ms. Clark. "Through working with LDS Business College, HRAA will ensure that medical coders are prepared with both the knowledge and experience to meet these demands come October 2014. We aim to work with other schools that offer medical coding certificate programs around the country so that they can prepare their students for employment."

HRAA provides ICD-10 transition services to major health systems across the country including Summa Health System and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. These services range from the implementation of HRAA's business intelligence platform - ICDVisualizerTM - to coding, education and auditing services.
