MGAC Delivers Salamander Resort & Spa

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Sep 6, 2013) - MGAC celebrated the successful project delivery of Salamander Resort & Spa, a luxury destination resort located on 340 pristine acres of Virginia horse country in Middleburg, Virginia.

The stunning resort features 168 elegant rooms and suites, sweeping public spaces, a state-of-the-art spa, three swimming pools, a fitness center, cooking studio, multiple dining venues, more than 50,000 square feet of unique indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a 5,000 square foot Grand Ballroom, and a full-service equestrian center.

Harrimans, the spectacular signature restaurant, features a soaring 42-foot ceiling, octagonal design and panoramic views. Harrimans serves Virginia Piedmont region inspired cuisine, using produce and herbs from the onsite culinary garden, as well as meat, poultry and seafood from local sources in all of its seasonal menu selections.

The Salamander Spa includes an infinity edge pool and cabanas, private outdoor terraces, and 14 treatment rooms, many warmed by fireplaces.

All 168 rooms and suites are spacious at a minimum size of 545 square feet, and also include a separate casual relaxation corner, dining table, full-size desk, and outdoor patio or balcony with dining options. The luxurious bathroom includes a marble shower with body jets, pedestal tub, dual sinks and enclosed water closet.

Founder and CEO Sheila C. Johnson's vision for the former horse farm of renowned Washington, DC socialite Pamela Harriman was to create a country estate that incorporates uncompromising quality, sustainable practices and healthy lifestyles to benefit resort guests and the Middleburg community alike. In support of sustainability and environmental sensitivity, the resort is registered to become one of the nation's first new luxury resorts to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

As Owner's Representative, MGAC provided comprehensive Project Management services for the resort's development, including overseeing extensive site work and the construction of a waste-water treatment plant, as well as managing the preservation of historic properties and onsite wetlands in the bucolic Middleburg setting. MGAC's seasoned Hospitality Project Managers exercised tremendous care throughout the multi-year project to ensure that the results matched Sheila Johnson's vision of a resort that blended seamlessly into Middleburg's beautiful and tranquil landscape.

The project team included design architect WATC, architect of record Architecture, Inc., general contractor Turner Construction Company with interior design inspiration from Thomas Pheasant and interior design completion by Kent Interior Design.
