Image Sensing Systems Announces the Creation of ISS Labs

New Research Department to Drive Company's Next Wave of technology innovations in Transportation and Safety Industries

SAINT PAUL, Minn., Sept. 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Image Sensing Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:ISNS) announced today that it has formed a new research department, ISS Labs, to focus on exploring and developing promising new and early stage technologies for commercialization within the intelligent transportation, safety and security sectors.

The new unit is headed by Dr. Panos Michalopoulos, ISS' original founder. In ISS' early days, Panos' vision pioneered a new marketplace: the use of video cameras and computers to enable new, more intelligent ways for cities to tackle the problem of increasingly congested roadways.

"With ISS Labs, we are making a dedicated commitment to ensure our role as an innovator in leading edge solutions within the traffic, safety and security industries," said Kris Tufto, Image Sensing Systems CEO. "I'm looking forward to the innovations that will emerge from the Labs' effort and their collaborations with our industry as a whole; academia, research centers, consultants and other integrators."

ISS Labs will collaborate with Marketing and Engineering as well as develop external partnerships and alliances. These key alliances will assist in the development of new technologies, applications and solutions to solve current and emerging problems.

"I am excited to take on this new role. The formation of ISS Labs shows the company's long-term commitment to innovation, leadership and partnership with both the private and public sectors," Dr. Panos Michalopoulos said.
