TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 24, 2013) - This Saturday, September 28, join more than 1,200 campers (participants), crew and volunteers as they embark on the first-ever Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure benefiting SickKids. This event is an up to 20 km challenge-by-choice adventure walk kicking off at Fort York. It is the only event of its kind in Canada.
Cabins (teams) of moms, dads, grandparents, babies in strollers, toddlers and tots, teenagers and family members alike will journey through the streets of Toronto, participating in camp-themed activities in parks along the way. Campers are encouraged to visit seven campsites en route for mural painting, relay races, dance lessons, water play, cooking tutorials, macramé bracelet-making, s'mores and more. Once participants have walked as far as they can go, they can return to Camp For Keeps at Fort York for talent shows and closing campfires, held hourly throughout the afternoon.
Funds raised through this event will support the Possibilities Fund at SickKids. It's the most flexible source of funding for people, programs, equipment and physical infrastructure. Community support like this helps SickKids continue to deliver world-class patient care and fund research discoveries that transform paediatric healthcare, to ensure every child has a chance to be healthy.
