PRINCETON, NJ--(Marketwired - Oct 3, 2013) - Inspire, the patient engagement platform, now has 400,000 members.
Earlier this year, Inspire passed the milestone of five million posts written by patients and caregivers.
"What sets Inspire apart is the authenticity of our members and the intensity of their engagement," said Inspire CEO Brian Loew. "Our members often connect at a time when they are making critical decisions about treatments for themselves or for loved ones."
Loew added, "We believe that medical progress can be accelerated through the active involvement of patients."
One of those communities is the Inspire/Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Support Community, which has grown to over 15,000 members. "Our ovarian cancer community in Inspire is an invaluable source of hope, comfort and information," said Calaneet Balas, CEO of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. "We've heard from so many women with ovarian cancer who were able to connect with a fellow survivor for the first time thanks to our community."
Princeton, N.J.-based Inspire accelerates medical research through the creation and operation of safe, moderated peer-to-peer online communities, organized by medical condition, for patients and caregivers. Inspire builds and manages these communities in exclusive partnership with 100 national patient advocacy and support organizations. Among the organizations are the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, the National Osteoporosis Foundation, Genetic Alliance, American Brain Tumor Association, the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, National Psoriasis Foundation, Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, WomenHeart, and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
