SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Envivio (Nasdaq:ENVI), a leading provider of software-based video processing and delivery solutions, today announced integration between the Envivio Halo™ network media processor (NMP) and Google Widevine digital rights management (DRM) using MPEG-DASH and common encryption. The combination of Envivio video processing and Widevine DRM enables the secure delivery of high quality video content to the full range of Android and Chrome devices.
Widevine DRM is natively supported on Google Chromecast, Chromebook and devices using the Android operating system, allowing secure video content playback without requiring any prior software installation. Leveraging MPEG-DASH and Common Encryption standards, the integration between Widevine and Envivio ecosystems allows operators to seamlessly deliver services to any screen.
"As more people use more devices to watch more video, it is critical that operators are able to protect that content and also deliver it using a converged, flexible platform," said Julien Signès, Envivio president and CEO. "We are continuously enhancing the capabilities of our Halo platform to offer the latest and most advanced functionality, including support for Widevine and MPEG-DASH common encryption."
Widevine's multiplatform DRM provides the capability to license, securely distribute and protect playback of multimedia content on any consumer device. Content owners, MSOs and Internet digital media providers can utilize Widevine's solutions to ensure revenue generating services keep flowing to whatever device consumers desire.
