Elected candidates were formally inducted at the Association's 94th Annual General Meeting in Whistler, B.C. on Saturday October 26, 2013. The election process, as prescribed by the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, and work of APEGBC's Council allows the professions of engineering and geoscience to enjoy the privilege of self-regulation.

Founded in 1920, APEGBC is the regulatory and licensing body for the professions of engineering and geoscience. With over 29,000 members, APEGBC is one of the largest professional associations in BC and maintains high academic, experience and professional practice standards.

Biography of Mike Bapty P.Eng., FEC - President of APEGBC

Mike Bapty, P.Eng., FEC is a mining engineer with over 40 years of experience. Mr. Bapty is president of Bapty Research Ltd., a consulting engineering and exploration management company in Duncan, BC.

Mr. Bapty was formally inducted as President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) on Saturday October 26, 2013 at the Association's 94th Annual General Meeting. Mr. Bapty has been involved with APEGBC in various capacities since 1985. Previous positions with APEGBC Council include: Vice President for the 2012/2013 term, and previously as Councillor for five years.

Mr. Bapty holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia. In 2009, Mr. Bapty was named a Fellow of Engineers Canada and in 1999 he received APEGBC's Professional Service Award.
