MINNEAPOLIS, MINN., Nov. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Colon Cancer Coalition has partnered with Massachusetts-based Fusion, LLC. for a new e-commerce site dedicated to all things "Get Your Rear in Gear." The online store, found at GetYourRearInGearStore.com, features items that highlight the Coalition's Get Your Rear in Gear events brand and promote the awareness of the nation's No. 2 cancer killer, colon cancer.
Items found in the store include the #CheckYourColon t-shirt that was introduced in 2012, as well as several new apparel items and other gear that encourage healthy living and active lifestyles. Fusion, LLC. will be donating, on average, 40% of each item sold to the Colon Cancer Coalition to help further the mission of colon cancer screening and community education. The donation amount varies for each item. All orders placed on or before December 13, 2013, will be guaranteed to arrive by December 24, 2013.
"I became affiliated with the Colon Cancer Coalition when I learned that my best friend, Brian Shelly, his brother-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer. Shelly is more than a friend to me. He was my college roommate and the best man at my wedding," said Anthony Lopardo, president of Fusion, LLC. "I knew I had to do something and thought the best way for me to be able to contribute to the efforts for colon cancer awareness was to create a place where supporters were able to promote and support the Colon Cancer Coalition. That is why Fusion is excited to launch the online apparel stores for Colon Cancer Coalition's Get Your Rear in Gear events."
The online environment also offers the opportunity for Get Your Rear in Gear event team captains to order custom team t-shirts, sweatshirts and other apparel through Fusion's "Living the Team" platform. Teams can customize available templates or upload their own design. All items ordered through Living the Team also give back to a percentage to the Colon Cancer Coalition.
"We appreciate Fusion's partnership and passion for our mission," said Anne Carlson, executive director for the Colon Cancer Coalition. "We are always on the lookout for ways to work with great companies that have a passion for the community."
All items from the new store will also be available on-site during the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk in Boston on Sunday, November 3 at DCR Mother's Rest at Carson Beach (24 William J Day Blvd, Boston).
About the Colon Cancer Coalition / Get Your Rear in Gear
Get Your Rear in Gear® events are presented nationally by the Colon Cancer Coalition, a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis. The events are 100% volunteer-driven in communities throughout the United States. Funds raised Get Your Rear in Gear events across the country stay in local communities to further raise awareness of the disease and bring educational, treatment and preventions opportunities to those who are under-insured or uninsured. To date the Colon Cancer Coalition has distributed over $1.5 million raised at Get Your Rear in Gear events back into local communities for colon cancer education, prevention, and screening. By making the words colon, colorectal and colonoscopy a part of the everyday language, we believe we can overcome the fear and decrease deaths from this largely preventable cancer. A history of the organization, upcoming events, and a list of programs receiving funding from the Colon Cancer Coalition can be found at GetYourRearinGear.com.
