FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwired - Nov 5, 2013) - Naxos of America continues to add partners to its family of distributed labels with the addition of AAM Records, Bella Musica, Antes Edition, Thorofon, Bongiovanni, Calliope, Coviello, and Dal Segno in November.
In over 40 years, the Academy of Ancient Music has built up a discography of over 300 recordings of baroque and classical music. In 2013 it launched AAM Records, taking full control of its future recording output under its current Music Director Richard Egarr. The launch of their own label allows the AAM to produce a range of recordings which match the artistic plans of the orchestra and reflect its commitment to historically-informed performances.
Bella Musica is one of the oldest production companies for music and publishing in Germany. The label has thousands of titles covering many genres, including German and international folk, classical, jazz, pop, country, and world music. Naxos of America will also be launching Antes Edition and Thorofon labels this month, both of which operate under the Bella Musica umbrella.
As music publishers, Bongiovanni opened 1905 when company founder Francesco Bongiovanni began publishing the works of Respighi, Zandonai, Alfano, and Cimara. It was not until the 1970s that Bongiovanni Records came into existence. Bongiovanni's catalogue comprises some 700 items, including rare operas by Donizetti, Catalani, Cimarosa, Mercadante, Pergolesi, Bizet, Mascagni and Paisiello.
The French label Calliope boasts a range of recordings, some devoted to rare works from the Renaissance to the 20th century, others presenting complete editions such as the organ music of Messiaen (performed by Louis Thiry) and the string quartets of Beethoven and Mozart.
The premium audiophile label Coviello Classics has something for every music lover. There are no prescribed styles or reservations -- quality is the sole criterion. Every release explores new territory and long-neglected repertoire offering surprising discoveries as well as familiar works which appear in a new light with unusual interpretations.
The Dal Segno catalogue, launched in 2003, focuses primarily on the preserved original piano roll recordings by some of the most celebrated composers from the Classical, Romantic and Contemporary eras at the keyboard. This piano roll collection features artists Debussy, Gershwin, Ravel, Paderewski, Hess, Mahler, Bartok and more playing the piano in perfect sound, nearly 100 years later.
