Kevco has partnered with Energy Smart Homes to offer energy efficient residential home construction that when built to specifications consume an impressive 40-50% less energy than other standard built-to-code, new homes and with no significant increase in construction costs.

The Energy Smart Home plans, available in three styles--Southern Classic, French Country and Mediterranean--boast 10' ceilings and tray ceilings in main rooms as well as strategically placed windows to maximize natural light. The models are available in one- and two-story designs and range in size from approximately 1,500 square feet to over 3,500 square feet. These homes are priced starting in the mid-$100,000's with the same quality and finishes for which Kevco is known and has been consistently honored.
Enlisting specifically engineered plans, Kevco's energy efficient homes feature air condition and heating equipment, along with duct work, designed within the actual living space of the home and not in the attic space which can get up to 30 degrees warmer and through which standard A/C systems circulate air.
"Our engineers configure the home's placement on the lot so the A/C and heating systems are shaded for greater efficiency," said Ziler. "We use advanced construction methods resulting in better thermal performance in the insulation placed in walls, floors and attics." The building materials feature hi-performance windows, doors and Energy-Star rated ceiling fans and appliances.
Kevco is the first builder in Lake County to offer the Energy Smart Homes library of home construction plans. The company will break ground on its first Energy Smart Home in Lady Lake soon.
