REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 14, 2013) - ASSIA, Inc., a leading solutions company for broadband service providers, today announced that ASSIA CEO and DSL inventor Dr. John Cioffi will share his insights into the use of vectored VDSL (very-high-speed DSL) for Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN) at The NBN: Rebooted workshop in Sydney on November 19. Dr. Cioffi will focus on business and technical strategies, and tactics for managing network and customer upgrades to vectored VDSL for optimal customer service and return on investment.
As the inventor of DSL and vectored VDSL, Dr. Cioffi advocates the economical use of existing copper phone lines to deliver speeds exceeding 100 megabits per second (Mbps) for the NBN, an approach that The Coalition government is planning following its election victory in September. Broadband networks combining fiber to a neighborhood cabinet and vectored VDSL for the last-mile connection to homes are already in development in Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, China, Austria, and the United States.
Dr. Cioffi's participation at The NBN: Rebooted workshop is part of a series of ASSIA's thought-leadership initiatives on vectored VDSL, which also includes a white paper, "Smart Vectoring," a webinar, "Vectored VDSL: Smart Strategies for Delivering 100 Mbps," and a presentation, "Smart Vectoring: Invest Wisely with DSL Management to 100 Mbps," that Dr. Cioffi delivered on October 22 at the Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam.
