Elemica Wins Supply & Demand Chain Executive's Green Supply Chain Award for 5th Consecutive Year

Streamlined Automation of Procurement Processes Significantly Reduces Paper Usage

EXTON, PA--(Marketwired - Nov 18, 2013) - Elemica, the leading Supply Chain Operating Network provider for the process industries, announces winning the 2013 Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. This is Elemica's fifth appearance on the prestigious list. Elemica was chosen for streamlining the entire order fulfillment process for a large global manufacturer of integrated olefins and polymers.

"Elemica is proud to once again win this most significant award, as it recognizes our commitment to helping clients meet their sustainability goals of reducing carbon emissions, cutting costs, eliminating waste, and saving time," said John Blyzinskyj, CEO of Elemica. "By removing paper-based processes, clients lower energy usage, save water and trees, and lessen greenhouse gas emissions."

Elemica aligned intimately with the client's sustainability strategy to address several challenges they had with their third party carriers and within their order fulfillment process. The goals of the project were to 1) standardize the shipment instruction and inventory management process with their third party terminals, 2) improve customer service by re-directing the inbound orders from customers from their storefront portal to an email ordering process, and 3) streamline the entire order fulfillment process and increase visibility in order to improve performance and accountability.

Elemica's Terminal & Warehouse solution within the Elemica Logistics Management Suite was utilized to automate manual processes around inventory, order entry, and shipment scheduling. Using SmartLink Application solutions, transactional barriers were removed for a seamless flow of information on electronic orders, inventory, and shipment instructions between the company and its trading partners. The result is a more streamlined order fulfillment process, shipment audit and visibility, reduction of errors and a uniform process for handling orders and shipment instructions to logistics service providers.

The 2013 Green Supply Chain Awards recognize companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and/or supply chains, in the areas of Sourcing/Procurement, Fulfillment/Logistics, Operations, Product Lifecycle Management, and other areas of the supply chain. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals. Submissions were judged based on the clarity and content of the goals and strategy (30 percent), the extent of the steps being taken (30 percent), the impact of the results to date and projected results (30 percent), and the form and presentation of the information submitted (10 percent).

"Our readers are implementing sustainable initiatives within their business processes -- and they want to know that other leading companies in supply chain are also with them in the same approach," said Hochfelder. "Our goal is to honor those companies in our annual awards and credit them with the recognition they deserve. Taking that first step -- knowing where to start when initiating a 'green' plan in ones business -- it's not always the easiest thing to do. We honor this year's top recipients for recognizing that there is a need for supply chain sustainability processes and for contributing to this practice with their global, eco-friendly industry actions."
