HOUSTON, Nov. 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 5th DUG East Conference & Exhibition drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 4,200 oil and gas professionals last week (Nov. 13-15) to Pittsburgh's David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The audience, up almost 30% over the prior year, set a new milestone for Hart Energy's premiere conference covering natural gas and liquids resource development in the Appalachian Basin's Marcellus and Utica shales.
The three-day petroleum industry event attracted a full slate of operational and economic presentations from CEOs with Marcellus-Utica producers, leading midstream operators, service company executives, and financial experts. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett delivered an opening day keynote address and conference delegates enjoyed a keynote luncheon "conversation" with former President George W. Bush. More than 300 exhibitors displayed new horizontal drilling, multi-stage fracture stimulation and completion technologies, as well as seismic monitoring, logistical support and other technical service capabilities in the exhibition hall.
"It was an amazing event," said Hart Energy's Barry Haest, VP and Director of Conferences. "We were absolutely thrilled to see such a huge audience response to our content in Pittsburgh. Our attendance growth clearly demonstrates the economic potential of Marcellus-Utica activity for the entire region."
DUG East attendees are reminded to log on to dugeast.com/dugea-conf13 to download high-quality video of industry presentations that were delivered at last week's packed conference.
Haest also noted sponsors and exhibitors are lining up for two large-scale Hart Energy conferences in Pittsburgh next year. Coming first is the 5th annual Marcellus-Utica Midstream event, January 28-30, 2014 at the Lawrence Convention Center. That conference, which drew nearly 1,600 attendees in 2013, provides forecast data and presentations for the industry's midstream sector: pipeline, treatment and storage facility operators as well as technology and service providers supporting them. The midstream forum and exhibition will be followed by the next DUG East conference June 3-5, 2014. Registration for both events is open now at marcellusmidstream.com and dugeast.com, respectively.
