SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwired - Dec 3, 2013) - Aconex, provider of the world's most widely used project collaboration solutions for the construction, infrastructure, power, mining, and oil and gas industries, today announced that Richard Crookes Constructions has used its platform on more than 30 projects over the last eight years. Richard Crookes Constructions is one of the largest private, family-owned construction companies in Australia.
According to Doug Zuzic, information systems manager at the firm, Richard Crookes Constructions has standardized on the Aconex Online Collaboration Platform for managing information and processes across all commercial, residential and government infrastructure projects.
Current projects on which Richard Crookes Constructions has deployed the Aconex platform, as well as Aconex Field for field inspections and issues management, include:
- The Kensington Colleges Student Accommodation at the University of New South Wales
This project consists of the demolition of student accommodations for two colleges and the design and construction of new accommodations for all five colleges, with associated services and external works. The project is proceeding without disruption to normal university operations and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
- The Iglu Student Accommodation at Chatswood
This project involves the construction of 395-bed student accommodation with communal areas including outdoor courtyards, a roof garden, a library, games and media rooms, and bicycle storage facilities.
- The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) - Thomas Street
The 20,000-square-meter building resulting from this project will house UTS's Faculty of Science and Graduate School of Health, as well as a Library Retrieval System for 900,000 books. The development will also include a landscaped green space in the middle of the UTS campus. Richard Crookes Constructions will also use Aconex Smart Manuals for the preparation and delivery of digital operation and maintenance manuals.
"Industry Standard for Project Collaboration"
"Aconex is very well known within the industry," said Zuzic. "It's pretty much become the industry standard for project collaboration. In an average month, we process more than 220,000 documents and over 400,000 items of correspondence on the Aconex platform. It's vertically tailored to construction -- when we get involved with projects, we often find that the architects have already collaborated on their designs and drawings through Aconex. Our clients and subcontractors also find it easy to use, and they see the project efficiencies that we've been able to achieve."
Richard Crookes Constructions has been building for government and private clients across all construction sectors since 1976. The firm delivers projects valued at up to AUD$200 million and more, principally in New South Wales and Australia Capital Territory. Up to 70% of its projects come from repeat clients. Doug Zuzic discusses the business and its use of the Aconex platform in this video.
"Throughout the region, we're making significant progress in converting clients for single projects to multi-project engagements," said Steven Brant, general manager of Australia and New Zealand at Aconex. "We have a long and successful history with Richard Crookes Constructions, and we're pleased to have them standardize on our platform. We look forward to serving their projects for years to come and helping them reduce risk across diverse project teams, while ensuring efficient delivery and high-quality results."
